Beyond The Monolith

Track: Unobtanium
Abstract

In this Q&A panel you will learn what challenges developers are facing when migrating monolithic applications and we’ll see what makes sense for real world projects. We will discuss: Cloud Native, Monolith, Migration and other topics suggested by the audience!

Dalia Abo Sheasha

Dalia Abo Sheasha is the development lead for the IBM WebSphere Migration Tools. Her team develops several migration tools including the WebSphere Application Server Migration Toolkit. Dalia has worked on WebSphere for 5 years starting her career with the EJB team and transitioning to the JPA team where she contributed to the open-source projects: EclipseLink and OpenJPA. She loves talking about WebSphere Liberty and sometimes dresses up as it for Halloween (ask to see a picture).

Ana Maria Mihalceanu

Ana-Maria Mihalceanu is a custom application development enthusiast, co-founder of Bucharest Software Craftsmanship Community and a constant adopter of challenging technical scenarios. Some of her older experiments are available on Dzone. Other passions? The knowledge hunt through reading and growing fashion skills through shopping.

Erin Schnabel

Erin Schnabel is a Senior Technical Staff Member at IBM working with microservice architectures, cloud native applications, composable runtimes and Java. Erin has 20 years under her belt, as a developer, technical leader, architect and evangelist. She is passionate about developer experience, particularly with how the evolving cloud ecosystem impacts developers and their applications. She prefers learning (and teaching) by doing, as demonstrated by her open source exploits with “Game On!” (gameontext.org), a text adventure game that provides developers with a playground to experimenting with backend technologies.
